What is Reiki?

I am so honored and excited to offer Reiki treatments to my client family!

Reiki is a form of energy healing that is used for stress reduction, relaxation and to promote healing. It originated in the 1920s in Japan by Mikao Usui and is now practiced in over 800 hospitals in the United States alone!

I first discovered reiki when I was in my 20s—it was the first tool that really helped to heal my nervous system and combined with other therapies, to heal my chronic migraines. I started learning to practice reiki in 2008 and I am now a certified Usui/Tibetan Reiki Master.

During a Reiki session one usually feels relaxed, warm and free of burdens of the world. Reiki treats the person holistically—working on the physical, mental/emotional and spiritual bodies.

What to Expect

During a Reiki treatment, we begin by checking in, learning about what brings you to the treatment today and what your intentions are for healing.

After chatting, we will start the treatment. You will lie comfortably on a massage table, fully clothed with a pillow under your head, a bolster under your knees, and if desired, a warm blanket to cover you.

I lay my hands on various parts of your body, generally starting at the top of your head and working my way down. Sometimes I will stay in one place for a long time, and other times I will move around more frequently—I am an intuitive healer and use that to guide the treatment.

Sometimes people are there to let go of trauma or work on releasing something that no longer serves their highest interest. If appropriate, I will give a healing attunement which allows us to work on releasing in a more intentional way.

Many people fall asleep during treatments or get into a very deep state of relaxation. This is a lovely opportunity to leave behind your stresses of the world or the day into a peaceful and loving state.

After the treatment is over we will check in, create a plan for follow-ups as needed and transition back into the day. My reiki appointments are 60 minutes.
